Paying For Pet Portraits

Payment is not required until you have approved your portrait online.

Paypal, cheque, postal order, bank transfer or cash deposit are all accepted.

Please understand that pet portraits cannot be dispatched until payment is completed.

Sending Pet Photographs

Photos to work from should be emailed by clicking "insert" followed by "file attachment."

They should be large and clear. The quality of your pet portrait depends on the photos.

Photos can also be posted on a disc.

Multiple photos can usually be combined into one pet portrait.

Pet photos will not be displayed without permission.

Taking Pet Photographs

Digital photos are best, but not necessarily from the latest camera!

To bring out the best in your pet, a photo outside in good light is preferable.

For the best portrait, look across as your pet rather than down when you take your photo.

An attractive background is nice, although this can always be improvised into the final pet portrait.

Red-eye, poor contrast etc. can be rectified by the artist.

1. How long does the process take?

Ans: Current waiting time for pet portraits is 7-8 weeks (Updated 30 June '09)

2. How much do your pet portraits cost to commission?

Ans: The price table can be found here. It lists sizes of pet portrait, and the two media of pencil and coloured pencil.

3. What kind of photos do you require? How do I send them?

Ans: Details about sending and taking pet photos can be found here.

4. How can I be sure my pet portrait won't get damaged?

Ans: All portraits are packed very securely and insured.

5. What about payment?

Ans: Payment is not required until you have approved your pet portrait in an email. Ways you can pay are listed here.

6. How do you draw your pet portraits?

Ans: Please see the pet portraits tutorial for information about techiques, plus photos of portraits in progress.

7. Can I choose the kind of paper you draw my pet portrait on?

Ans: Because of the methods art materials used, I always use the smooth paper for pencil and a textured paper for coloured pencil portraits.

8. Will my pet portrait be shown on your website?

Ans: You will receive an email with an N.B. stating that pet artwork may be used unless I hear to the contrary.

9. Can you make alterations to the pets in my portrait based on my photos?

Ans: I am willing to make such alterations to a portrait if I feel it won't compromise the likeness.

10. Will you frame my pet portrait for me?

Ans: I am afraid I do not offer a framing service, but there is advice on framing pet portraits here.
